FAQs

Are all of your products made in Vermont?

Almost every product we carry is made in Vermont, with a few exceptions for books related to Vermont life, and a few Vermonter favorites!  We source ALL of our products through Vermont companies! ANY exceptions are clearly marked on item descriptions.  We are always looking for Vermont made versions of these favorites and are always eager to hear about new goods and makers.

I saw something in the store I wish I’d bought.  Are all of your products online?

Unfortunately, no. We have a handful of one-of-a-kind pieces that aren’t listed on our website, like pottery and wood-burned cutting boards. However, we are always happy to ship any item we sell in the store! Give us a call – we take orders over the phone, too!  802-388-7711

How fast do you ship?

We strive to get every shipment packed and out the door the same or next business day. We’re a small team, so during busier times it might take 2 days.

Who ships your packages?

We usually find that USPS allows us to get the best rates and delivery speeds for our customers. Sometimes, for shipments west of the Mississippi, we find it more cost effective to use UPS. We will always send a tracking number so you know it’s on its way!

What’s the best way to contact you?

Use our contact form here to reach us!  This is the best way for us to answer any general questions.

We do our best to answer the phone right away, too, but there’s just one of us in the store at a time. If we’re busy with customers and can’t get to the phone, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can!

We know that you can buy from a million other online stores, and just like if you visit the store, we value our customer’s experience as our top priority. When you walk in, we want you to feel welcomed as if you were visiting our own home. That means we value our relationship with customers as our top priority.  One of our mottos at Vermont’s Own is, if a request is reasonable and we can do it — make it happen!

I make things!  Will Vermont’s Own Gifts & Goods carry it?

We are always on the lookout for new high quality products with great potential. We know just how hard working, creative, and innovative folks Vermonters are. It’s part of why we love Vermont so much.

Interested Vermont-based producers should complete the New Product Submission Form for us to check out their products. We take several factors into consideration, and keep very open minds for our Vermont neighbors working hard to pursue their passion. Take a look around our website and see if you’ll be a good fit!

How much do you charge for shipping?

The bummer news: shipping costs money.  We know. We hate paying for shipping, too.  We strive to get these amazing Vermont-made goods all across the country for the lowest cost to customers!

Many of our items are fragile or heavy (maple syrup, jams, mustards, etc.). More cushioning, bigger boxes, and heavier weight all mean more for shipping. We’ve found that the best rates we can get for our customers are when costs are calculated using product weight and shipping distance. Your exact rate will be calculated during checkout.

The FUN news: shipping is FREE for product order totals over $75*. That’s our way of saying thank you for buying Vermont-made and supporting so many of our neighbors with your generous order.

*There are a handful of exceptions on free shipping when you buy over certain quantities of specific items due to weight and fragility. Any exceptions will be clearly marked on the item page.

Why do you focus on Vermont-made products?

Vermont’s Own Gifts & Goods buys direct only from Vermont producers and distributors. That means part of every purchase goes straight to a Vermonter. Here, that often literally means our neighbors.

Bottom line, shopping small and local builds communities and supports our small rural Vermont towns. And the ripple effects of shopping small for communities extends beyond just economics. There are environmental benefits from reduced long distance freight shipments. It keeps communities unique. Local businesses are much more likely to give back straight to the community, because they are OUR communities.

Our main goal is to support Vermonters by sharing their hard work!
